Water Leak

I have an 89 civic Si, and I have been having water leak through the firewall into the cockpit. The water is on the pedals all the way across to the passenger side, and it is enough to get your feet uncomfortably wet when you have your shoes off. If anyone has any advice as to where the water may be comming from, and if anyone has had this problem, how do I fix it. I also need to talk to someone fairly well versed with the alternator/battery wiring of the 4th gen civic as well. Thanks

The water leak could be your heat exchanger. Are you running antifreeze in your radiator? If you are then this could be antifreeze. Does it smell sweet, and/or have that flourescent yellow color? When heat exchangers finally fail completely, your engine will lose coolant (obviously mostly on your floor)and overheat.
